Joining in the Fun of Creating ESP32 Projects

In case you're new to working with the Arduino IDE and the ESP32 processors, I can share how I got started.

I watched YouTube videos created by many creators. I looked at projects on the official Arduino website https://www.arduino.cc/ and read the language reference at https://docs.arduino.cc/language-reference/

The single most valuable website I have found for courses and great coding examples is https://rntlab.com/. It's run by two great people in Portugal. I have taken a couple of the courses and I'll be taking more when I need specialized applications like Smart Home.

My Pixel 10 came with a subscription to Gemini. I have found Gemini does an amazing job of creating programs that usually work immediately. It is a huge timesaver, eliminating a lot of typing time.

It is still wise to have the background experience in coding to be able to fine tune AI misunderstandings from unclear prompts and the rare errors that AI can make. I'm sure that Claude Code can also do the programming but Gemini does so well I don't want to pay extra for Claude.

There are a number of other development suites for ESP32 but I recommend starting with Arduino. Expressif has their own IDE, there's platformio for VSCode and MicroPython options.

Have fun! You can do amazing things with tiny processors.
